The Guidance and Counseling Office, as a support service, plays an important role for living out the school’s Vision-Mission and goals. Its services are geared towards helping to instill new consciousness and value-formation as persons in the family and community. Its structured activities are designed to enhance the learners’ career, personal and social competencies. The Guidance Personnel provides services to learners, parents/guardians and other school personnel in the following areas.

  1. Direct Learner Services
    The Guidance Personnel and Learner interactions during this distance learning are made possible through its innovative program, SLSI Life’s Innovative Network Kit or SLSI L.I.N.K. This is to continue reaching and supporting the learners despite the shift to distance learning:
    1. Guidance Curriculum is designed to help learners attain the desired competencies by providing them with the knowledge, attitudes and skills appropriate for their developmental level and necessary in their everyday life. It helps the learners to be self-competent in setting goals, solving problems and coming up with sensible decision making. It also aims to develop the learners’ sense of responsibility in intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships.
    2. Individual Planning is designed to assist learners in establishing personal goals, developing future plans and guiding them in their career decision-making
    3. Responsive Services is designed to aid in the prevention and intervention of varied learners’ concerns.
  2. Indirect Learner Services are provided on behalf of the learners as a result of the guidance personnel’s interactions with others such as:
    1. Referrals to lead parents / guardians to community
      for additional assistance.
    2. Consultation with different stakeholders to support the learners.
    3. Collaboration with teachers and parents/ guardians to the best interest of the learners.


LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER

The Learning Resource Center is an essential part of an academic institution. The education process relies on its resources for the intellectual development, socio-historical understanding and growth of the pupils and all the users. It provides tools that support the curriculum of the institution which includes classroom instruction, practicum and community involvement. The Learning Resource Center is a vital link between the pupils and teachers in acquiring literacies in the 21 st century.

The primary function of the Learning Resource Center is to support the school in carrying out its vision-mission by acquiring and making available the books, special collections and audio-visual materials/resources needed in the instructional program of the school.

ELEMENTARY DEPARTMENT LIBRARY AND INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA CENTER

Sections of the LRC:

  1. Kinder Corner – It houses story books/easy reading books intended for Kinder pupils.
  2. Easy Reading Section – It houses story books/easy reading books intended for Grades 1 & 2 pupils.
  3. Circulation Section – It houses Filipiniana books, textbooks and other supplemental references for pupils and personnel.
  4. Reference Section – It houses the different basic reference sources such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs and books pf facts, atlases, and others.
  5. Periodical Section – It provides different local, national and foreign magazines, journals and newspapers.
  6. Fiction Section – It contains storybooks, which may be borrowed for a maximum of one week.
  7. Teachers’ Corner – It houses professional readings and teachers’ guides.
  8. Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Materials Corner – It contains books about indigenous knowledge, sound and video recordings of traditional songs, dances, and instrumental music. Local artifacts, symbols, cloth, and attires commonly found in the Cordillera Region as exhibited in the corner.
  9. Instructional Media Center – It is equipped with audio-visual and multi-media facilities to enrich the teaching-learning experiences. It houses an extensive collection of the various multi-media resources primarily for the use of the pupils and personnel.
  10. Audio-visual Room – This is a room that can accommodate 40-50 persons. It is used for the following purposes: film viewing, meetings and group discussions.

HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT LIBRARY AND MULTIMEDIA CENTER SERVICES

LIBRARY AND MULTIMEDIA CENTER provide tools and services that support the curriculum of SLSCIHSD


SERVICES:

  1. Virtual Reference
    A reference service initiated electronically.
  2. Library E-Instruction
    Library programs and activities are implemented using the internet.
  3. SLSI Library FB Students’ Group
    A platform for a wider dissemination of information.
  4. Learner’s Help Desk


Library staff serve as agents to accurately and immediately disseminate information.


SECTIONS:
General Collection, Textbook, Filipiniana, and Fiction Section house a collection of varied books and other supplemental reading materials which are allowed for home use.


A special collection about the Cordillera culture is being maintained. These sections adopt the open shelving system. The books in these sections may be taken out for overnight loan and photocopy purposes.


The reference section houses the different basic reference sources such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs and books of facts, atlases, and the like.


The Periodical section houses the vertical files like newspaper clippings, pamphlets and government and non-government publications.


The Multimedia Center houses the different non-print materials and the various equipment integral for teaching and learning. Unlike other sections, the Multimedia Center adopts close shelving due to the nature of materials it contains.


A projection room is provided for the different audio visual resources. It can accommodate 30 students at a time as they maintain physical distancing.



LABORATORIES

SCIENCE LABORATORIES
The Science laboratories are provided with laboratory apparatuses, equipment and materials to develop scientific skills.

 

TECHNOLOGY AND LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION LABORATORY

The Technology and Livelihood Education laboratory is well-provided to maximize learning and development of home technology and livelihood skills.


COMPUTER LABORATORIES
The computer laboratories are equipped with sets of computers ensured to enhance and hone students’ computer skills through hands-on use.


E-LEARNING HUB
A computer room provided for all learners for online learning and instruction.


RESEARCH HUB
The Research Hub is an extension of the E-learning Hub. It contains computer units that students can use to extensively search for information using electronic resources available online and on the DOST Super STARBOOKS database.
